Week of March 23-27

We are adjusting to our new school schedule! Although we can't be together at this time, KR has still managed to stay connected. Enjoy some pictures recording our week. :)

Nina brought her picture of KR to her new desk! :)

Week of March 9-13

Our avid readers practiced using precise language to describe characters and their feelings.

Our avid readers practiced using precise language to describe characters and their feelings.

Kindergarten had a spirit reward to support the food drive- extra recess!

Happy Birthday, Brandynn! We had a
 great time celebrating with you!

The leprechaun messed up our room! We came back from library to this mess! Liam the Leprechaun played some mischievous tricks on us! He switched our papers around and moved our chairs! Luckily, we were able to clean the mess pretty quickly.

Liam the Leprechaun left us a note!

Brandynn shared with us her favorite poem by
Langston Hughes. We enjoyed hearing it! Thanks for sharing, Brandynn!
We built leprechaun traps to try to catch Liam the Leprechaun!

We played a math game with our partner in which each child was given 10 cubes. He or she placed an amount of cubes in front of him or her and compared the amounts to see who placed more cubes in the pile. The children then counted how many more cubes were placed in the pile.

How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich: While I read my story on How to Make a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich out loud, August acted out making the sandwich for us... only to find out, I forgot a few steps in my story!! The children helped me realize it is important to include even small details when writing How To books! :) (No real food was used in this lesson. :)

After revising my book, Nora tried making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, according to the steps in my How To book. With the revisions the children helped me make, the sandwich turned out much better! :)

We found a part in one of our books during independent reading time in which a character was experiencing a strong feeling. We marked that feeling with a Post-It so that we could share it later with our partner during partner reading time.
