Week of November 11-18

We honored our Veterans on Monday during our Veteran's Day Assembly. Kindergarten helped sing a few songs during the assembly.

We celebrated Parker's birthday on Monday too!
Happy Birthday, Parker!

We worked on Veteran and Ezra Jack Keats centers this week.

We started a new unit in science! We are learning about living and non-living things. We took a walk outside to record living things that we observed in our Art Walk.

We planted our own seeds! We were given the choice of lima bean seeds, radish seeds or sunflower seeds to plant in our classroom greenhouse. We observed our seeds under a magnifying glass and discussed our observations with our table mates.

We also worked with our table mates to sort pictures into two piles: living and non-living things. We learned that living things need air, food and water to survive.

We loved planting our seeds in our greenhouse!

We played I Have, Who Has in math. We were each given a card that no one else could see. As you can tell, we took this direction very seriously! :) An example of what the cards say is as follows, "I have 1. Who has 2?" The child who has one starts the number line. The child who has 2 then joins and reads his or her card, "I have 2. Who has 3?" We played through 20.

We've started learning about the word part ing. We're learning that ing isn't broken down into individual sounds while reading or writing, it is read and written as one whole part. This has been tricky for us! The King of ing will help us with this word part next week too!

Kaidyn's mom was our mystery reader this week.
We enjoyed hearing her read to us!
