Week of September 8-13

During phonics, we practiced using our names and identifying the first sound of our names to our partners. Our partners then repeated names and first sound back.

Also during phonics, we worked with partners to sort words by the beginning sound /Q/. This was a bit tricky for us!

We have been working hard during writing workshop! We have been using the tools around our room to help us spell words. Some of our tools around the room are our ABC chart and our word wall.

We added the word "see" to our word wall! We practiced writing what we see in our classroom during interactive writing.

We then wrote the phrase "I see" in our books with pictures of each table's table mates.

We started centers! Here we are matching the students in KR's names with pictures. After we matched the pictures and the names, we wrote some of our friends' names.

During this math center, we rolled, counted and recorded numbers.

During this theme center, we used Play Doh to show what faces typically look like while experiencing a certain feeling. We then wrote the feeling word to match the Play Doh face.

We read the book, Marvelous Me. The book is about Alex, who taught us that we all have different things that make us marvelous.

Here we are, drawing our marvelous portraits!

During math, we acted out a poem called, Red Engines. This poem was a warm up to a math lesson about the 6.
